6. What happens during the first consultation?
The initial herbal medicine consultation usually takes approximately 60 minutes. Your practitioner will ask detailed questions about your main concerns, associated symptoms, medical history, medication, lifestyle, sleep, digestion and emotional wellbeing.
The consultation may also include blood-pressure measurement, observation of the tongue and facial complexion, and pulse assessment according to Chinese medicine.
Follow-up consultations are usually shorter and focus on your response to the formula and any necessary adjustments.
7. What medical information should I bring?
When available, please bring:
-
A current list of prescription medicines
-
Information about over-the-counter medicines and supplements
-
Information about allergies or previous adverse reactions
-
Recent blood-test results
-
Relevant medical reports or scan results
-
Information about current or previous medical treatment
These records help the practitioner understand your overall health situation. Klinic’s Chinese medicine assessment does not replace diagnosis or treatment by your doctor or medical specialist.
8. Can I take Chinese herbal medicine with prescribed medication?
Herbal products may interact with prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines or supplements.
Please tell your Klinic practitioner about everything you take. You should also consult your prescribing doctor or pharmacist before combining herbal medicine with other treatments.
Separating herbal and conventional medicines by one or two hours does not necessarily prevent an interaction.

9. Is Chinese herbal medicine suitable during pregnancy or medical treatment?
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, preparing for fertility treatment or receiving specialist medical care, please inform both your Klinic practitioner and your treating doctor before using herbal medicine.
Extra caution may be required for people with liver or kidney conditions, bleeding disorders, allergies or complex medication use. Suitability must always be assessed individually.
10. How do I prepare and take the granules?
Your practitioner will provide individual instructions explaining the amount, preparation method, frequency and timing of your formula.
The granules are generally dissolved in warm water before use. However, you should follow the instructions provided with your own prescription and should not change the dosage yourself.
If you miss a dose, experience an unexpected reaction or have difficulty taking the formula, please contact Klinic for advice.
11. How long will I need to take herbal medicine?
The duration varies according to the individual, the reason for treatment and the response to the formula.
Your progress will be reviewed regularly. The formula may be adjusted, continued or discontinued when appropriate. No particular result or treatment duration can be guaranteed.
12. Can herbal medicine be combined with acupuncture?
When appropriate, Chinese herbal medicine may be used by itself or alongside acupuncture, Tuina, lifestyle guidance or conventional medical care.
Your practitioner will discuss which approach may be suitable for your circumstances. If you are receiving medical treatment elsewhere, please keep your treating doctor informed about the complementary therapies you use.
